Darcy Harris featured in Open to Hope video

At the annual Association of Death Education and Counseling, Thanatology program coordinator Darcy Harris discussed her thoughts on reproductive loss and the importance in recognizing its significance. In this video, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ukNo1kSYeg&feature=email) Dr. Harris explains how to understand the grief that comes with reproductive loss and how others can help those they know who have experienced a loss of this kind. Dr. Harris discusses topics such as prenatal maternal attachment, shadow grief, abortion and premature menopause.

Harris is the coordinator of the Thanatology program at King’s University College, and has taught in the program for 12 years.  Along with her private clinical practice with a specialization in bereavement counseling, Dr. Harris is also the editor of Counting Our Losses: Reflection on Change, Loss and Transition in Everyday Life as well as co-editor of Grief and Bereavement in Contemporary Society: Bridging Research and Practice.
