Violette Khammad is King’s University College Students’ Council’s new incoming President. She began her term as President on May 1st, 2017. Originally from London, having graduated from Saunders Secondary School, Khammad has been involved with the KUCSC since her first year. She was on council last year as Vice President Student Affairs and ran a successful campaign landing her the position of President for the 2017/2018 school year.

“The new executives and I have started working on our goals together. We are discussing the projects we will work on as a team,” says Khammad. “We are working on formulating a united vision that we have for the KUCSC this year.”

Khammad explains that the goal is to make the student experience at King's one that is inclusive of all students through events, advocacy weeks, grants system, and resources. “We are here to serve the students, and our door is always open to questions, feedback, and ways we can be accessible to students of all years and programs. With the united vision, we are able to work and hold each other accountable for remembering what our goal is for our executive team,” she says.

The Executive team she refers to is comprised of four new members. David Haggarty is the Chief Financial Officer. Haggarty is in his fourth year of the Management and Organizational Studies program in the Global Commerce stream. Kristen Kovacs is the Vice President Student Events. She is also a fourth year student, in Psychology and Childhood and Social Institutions. Olivia Smith Rodrigues is the Vice President Student Affairs. Olivia is in her third year and she is completing a double major in Social Justice and Peace Studies and Political Science. Madelaine Coelho is the Chief Communications Officer and she is in her third year completing a double major in Political Science and Criminology. The Executive team works alongside KUCSC General Manager Andrea Jolliffe to continue to enhance the student experience at King’s.

“This summer we are working hard planning for the year. We want to make sure we are prepared for orientation-week and that we have a master schedule for the year,” says Khammad. “As President I am there to work together with and also empower the executives. I’m there to support them and to unify all their goals,” she adds. With having gained experience from last year’s executive team, Khammad looks forward to providing a fulfilling and rewarding experience for all involved. She is excited to see how the newly added Associate and Commissioner positions improve and help the executives with achieving their objectives.

“It’s really nice to see how far we’ve come as an organization. We’re moving towards efficiency and ensuring our organization is progressing,” she adds. “I’m inspired by the enthusiasm and the passion of this year's executive team who can't wait to get started. I can see the passion already”.

King’s congratulates and wishes Khammad, and the rest of the Executive team, the best of luck for this upcoming year.
