On Tuesday, February 19, two memorial awards were signed by the families of Joshua Switzer and Jonathan Sullivan, both King’s students who passed away in 2012. Effective fall 2013, these awards are funded by the King’s University College Students’ Council to acknowledge and honour not only Joshua and Jonathan, but all students who have passed away while completing their education at King’s.

The Joshua Switzer Memorial Award was established to honour the memory of Joshua Switzer, who passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2012. This award, open to both international and Canadian students, is awarded annually to a fourth year student who can demonstrate “joy of life” through their passion and commitment to assisting community, arts or cultural programs at King’s or the London community.

The Jonathan Sullivan Memorial Award was established to honour the memory of Jonathan Sullivan, who passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2012. This award, open to both international and Canadian students, is awarded annually to a third or fourth year student who can demonstrate dedication and service to King’s or the London community.

Valued at $1,000 each, eligible students must have achieved a minimum cumulative average of 70 per cent in the previous fall/winter term. The awards will be presented at the annual Feast of Christ the King reception in November.
