King’s University College Chamber Choir is nominated for the 2016 Jack Richardson London Music Awards for Best Choir/Choral group. The Chamber Choir is directed by Janet Loo from Campus Ministry. She is also a faculty member at the Don Wright Faculty of Music. The choir consists of King’s students, faculty, staff and alums who have auditioned. The Choir puts on two performances a year in the Joanne and Peter Kenny Theatre with proceeds donated to a selected charity. This year the choir supported the King’s Campus Ministry Refugee Program.

The Jack Richardson Music Awards are given in honour and recognition of the late music producer for his contributions to developing the music industry. Richardson was an advocate for the local London music community and for music education. The guest of honour for the upcoming 12th Annual Award Show is the legendary music producer’s son Garth Richardson, who is also a music producer.

Winners are chosen through online voting. To support the King’s Chamber Choir, online voting is open now by visiting www.jrlma.ca.

The Award Gala is on April 17th at the London Music Hall. The show begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. The event is open to all ages and free to attend. King’s University College Chamber Choir is honoured to be nominated for this award. King’s offers Janet Loo and her Chamber Choir congratulations on the nomination and best of luck in the voting!

The Chamber Choir will perform t in the Kenny Theatre on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the King’s Veritas Series: Let Eternal Light Shine: A Performance of Two Requiem Settings.  They will also perform on April 2nd at St. Paul’s Cathedral (472 Richmond Street).
