Green Bus!Green power of another kind is makings an appearance at King’s – horsepower. You may have noticed a new Aboutown bus on campus. This vehicle is a collaboration with Aboutown and supported by Brescia. Both the smaller size of the bus and its and use of propane help reduce the environmental impact. |

- May 18, 2012 - 2nd Annual Plant Sale
11:30am - 1:30pm in front of Dante Lenardon Hall

Back by popular demand, the Green Team Plant Sale will take place this May, just in time for the Victoria Day Long weekend!
Join us from 11:30 am - 1:30pm in front of the Dante Lenardon Hall on Friday May 18 for the 2nd Annual Green King's Plant Sale! All proceeds will benefit the King's Tree Fund, as we work towards our phase 2 planting in September with ReForest London.
Plant donations:
Donations of plants & gardening materials are being accepted May 14 - 17 - just drop off your plants at the South Garage, located behind the Cardinal Carter Library or email us at greenkings@uwo.ca to make alternate arrangements.

- KUCSC Tree Planting Event - Friday, April 13, 2012

Thanks to all who came out to plant trees & shrubs with us on Friday, April 13. Our event was a great success!
With the funds raised by the Green King's Tree Fund (and matched by ReForest London) we will be planting approximately 85 trees & shrubs to naturalize the area just behind the Wemple garage, on the hill leading down to the townhouses. We are very proud of this achievement, and hope you can join us!
Planting begins @ 11:00 am on Friday, April 13
- meet in front of the Wemple Garage. We will plant rain or shine, so please bring your boots and a coat if it looks like it might rain! ReForest London will provide shovels, gloves, and all the supplies we need.
At 12:30, please join us for a Charity BBQ to celebrate the 1st planting and the generous contributions of our biggest funders, KUCSC. For just $6.00/person, enjoy a hamburger (or veggie burger)/hotdog, chips & pop! Aramark has also generously donated a cake to help us celebrate!
All proceeds raised at the BBQ will be donated to the Tree Fund to help us fund the 2nd phase planting which will be held in September 2012.

- ReForest London Million Tree Challenge - PRESALE EVENT!

Tree PreSale Pickup date: Friday, April 13
1 gallon pot (1-3 feet tall): $12
2 or 3 gallon pot (3-6 feet tall): $25
Payment is by cash or cheque only, at the time of tree pickup. The trees are sold at cost, and no profit is being made by ReForest London.
Trees can be picked up on Friday, April 13 at King's University College from 12:30-2:00pm (parking lot west of Wemple Hall) and Elborn College from 2:30-3:30pm (by the traffic circle).
Pre-ordered trees are only available during the time of this sale. Unclaimed trees will be sold at a future ReForest London tree sale event.

To fill out the form, please click on the link at the top of this notice: Under each species of tree(s) that you wish to pre-order, indicate the quantity of each size that you would like by clicking in the corresponding circle on the form. Size availability depends on the supply at local tree farms. Using this form, you can pre-order 1 to 5 trees of each species and size.

The Green Team is pleased to announce that the winner of the LED Prize Pack is Erin Gamble, KUCSC's VP Events! Erin participated in the Green Team's $2 Raffle to win the Philips LED Light Bulb at last week's Energy Awareness Booth in the cafeteria. Congratulations Erin!

February 28, 2012 - Dialogue & Action for Earth Summit 2012
King's Political Science Club and KUCSC will be hosting a very exciting and timely event on sustainability, the environment, green economy and equity, "Dialogue and Action for Earth Summit 2012." King's is one of only 18 stops in this cross national tour organized by We Canada, a nation-wide non-profit social movement for Canadian leadership in sustainable development at the Earth Summit 2012. February 6 - 9, 2012 - Ugly Sweater Day & Facebook Competition

The Green Team is pleased to announce the winners in the first annual Ugly Sweater Contest! This event attracted lots of attention from students, staff and faculty and we are thankful to all who participated in celebrating National Sweater Day and raising awareness about energy conservation and World Wildlife Fund initiatives.
Thanks to the generosity of the KUCSC Pro Shop and Aramark, our winners are the lucky recipients of Sweater Prize Packs to replace these ugly beauties with something from King’s!

May 2011 - Spring Plant Sale
The Green Team is proud to present our first annual plant sale! To help support local plant life and sustainable gardening, the Green Team will sell perennial plants to members of the King's community. We raised over $300.00 for the Green King's Tree Fund.
