Student research on Obama published
A paper written by Political Science student Sarah Browning was recently published by Social Contract, a journal at Western University for political sciences. The piece, found here, discusses Max Weber’s Charismatic Authority Theory as seen in US Predident Barack Obama. Browning explored Obama’s ability to bring a population together with charisma.
Weber's theory notes that this charismatic authority is not something you can develop, but that it is something that you either have or you don’t. Other notable people from the past that possess this character trait include JFK, Ghandi, Pierre Trudeau and Adolf Hitler.
Browning notes that this project was part of the Intro. to Political Science class. “I really enjoy essay writing and this topic,” she continues. She recently transferred into the Political Science program and is looking into a career in law upon her graduation.
